The moonlight passed through leaves of translucent glass to cast a scattered rainbow effect upon the forest floor. My body was too heavy for me now. It seemed even consciousness was using up too much energy. I lurched and vomited more blood from my ravages innards letting it glisten down my arms.
The sound of running water found my ears. Rippling delicately like any song of life I could ever yearn for. How I had survived the distance I forgot but I managed to crawl towards it. Touch it, if all I could do was touch it.
There was a dip in the bank, and smooth sands that I slid down till finally I felt it caress my face. I knew it still tried to reject me but just the fact I could feel it calmed me. It passed over my lips and cooled my neck.
“Lantesse,” how I yearned for her right now. I breathed in the stream, its fluid-like ice kissing my lungs. After a moment I tasted blood again, the blood that still trickled from my devoured insides. The swirling crimson enwreathed my head and rested there with me, resting with my deadened body.
Perhaps one day I really would die, and everything would be left undone. Paradise left lost, the sins left to repeat themselves and Kaiet left to hang in a frozen existence.

From Ninth Wave, end of chapter 82.

Well now. I'm officially sick of this picture...so I'm bascially abandoning it. I haven't the patience to continue working on it. I cropped off the unfinished portion and voila.

About 8 finished pics ago, this was still being coloured. That's how long it's sat. Everything else I've submitted lately have been side projects to this.

I hope the excerpt from my story explained the scene a bit. Oh yeah and Lantesse is a lake. Ker is a banished water spirit, he's got a bit of a curse on his head (hence the chain) that he repells water whenever near it. He can however still breathe under water even though he has a mortal body. Hence the title...

Setting. He's in a forest of trees that are made of tiny jagged fragments of glass. Those are the reflections of the white leaves there...It's night...and now that I think about it I'm not even sure if moonlight is able to cast rainbows...but we'll ignore that.

He got banged up when Theta sicked a bunch of tree men on him cuz he traspassed into a different region he wasn't supposed to be in. This is just after he recues Qali (who orignally tried to save him) and he's left on his own to get back to the palace while everyone else flew away.

To explain all the black marks, they are funky bruises. He can heal his bones instantly but it'll leave a bruise in the muscle from the spirit power he used and his skin goes black in the area. So yeah...just thought I'd clear that up so you're not wondering why the bruises aren't purple.

You can diss the picture, there isn't much about it that I care too much about. But do not diss the writing.I just threw it on to help explain the title/pic relationship. I get real touchy when people go at my writing so back off. It's not there to be judged.

It was supposed to be gruesome and beautiful at the same time. But hell I stared at it so long I have no idea if I accomplished that...

I like the picture for the way it portrays beauty at the hands of death. It is beautiful and yet so gruesome it makes the picture looks awesome. :) I love the writing and it explained the picture quite a bit.. :3 beautiful all around!

Oh wow this is amazing. There is so much feeling and yearning in this, I absolutely love it.

And I love your writing dear ^_^

Is it possible to see this plot/story you have been laboring over for the past five years? I only grasped about the characters from deviations, but I would like to see where they're from.
